Life has been normal. Ups and down here and there.
Still have another month to go with internshit (yes, I meant to spell it that way :P)
My internship place is cool. At least we don't always stuck in the office and got our asses wider. LOL
But.
That isn't what I am here for.
About three weeks ago, I had made a life-changing decision. It was my life-long dream to do it but somehow I had been postponed it for years.
Braces!
Yes, I'm a bracist (yes, bracist :P) now. Trust me, even I had a hard time to believe that I wear braces. I guess that's what happened when you finally got what you been dreaming for so long.
I'm still a newbie in this braces thing. Still adjusting to it. Learning how to eat properly with it. One thing for sure, you have to give up some foods once you wear braces. The first few days I started to wear braces I only had fish, porridge, half-boiled eggs, and soups. I couldn't chew much so I used (still use) my tongue to chew (if that makes any sense to you) and then swallow. Also, I'm still learning how to talk and smile with braces on. I tend to mumble when I speak cause I got lazy to open my mouth. Smile? Hahaha! All I got is a creepy smile cause I can no longer smile with my mouth closed. So I have to show off my braces which will end up as if I was grinning. Very attractive looking LOL.
Why I wear braces?
The reason is simple. I need it. If you knew me personally you know how my upper and lower teeth look like. They are over-crowded and crooked. Though some of my friends told me they loved my natural teeth and said that I have my own smile and it will be lost if I wore braces, I don't care. One thing other people won't understand is they think people wear braces just to follow trend. Although half of it is true, but in my case, I need it and I'm doing it for myself. Even so, I could never run away from that question 'why', just when I thought I have a strong, valid and obvious reason. People will always, always ask why.
Where I did it?
After made my research from the internet. Reading every comments in braces forum in Lowyat, I decided to get my treatment at WhileSmile Orthodontic Dental Clinic with Dr.Reuben How. I'm doing damon type braces since they don't offer traditional metal braces. It's a little expensive, but thank God for a student package they have! Here is the price list (that I can remember) for the student package:
Consultation fee - Free
Examination (mold, xray) - Rm350
Deposit - Rm700
Monthly payment - Rm350
Extraction - Rm80/tooth
Minor surgery - Rm700
Retainer - Free
Still, for a forever-always-broke student like me, the commitment you have to give is pretty tough. But I love the environment there. Everyone in the clinic is friendly and gentle, they make you feel comfortable. You know how scary a dental clinic can be right? So yeah, that is the biggest factor. Sometimes it is not about getting the cheapest price :)
Til then.
Roger and out.

Hi ! May I know they accept cash only ? or debit card is accepted as well ?
Hey! They accept both cash and credit/debit card :)
do they do extraction before putting braces? i consulted doctor before, i have to removed 4 tooth for conventional braces. but for damon braces i not sure
Hello there.
With Whitesmile, no. The extraction is done after 2-3 months of wearing braces. Dr. Reuben said it is better that way cause our gum is softer so the tooth can be pulled out easily.
I extracted 4 teeth as well. Probably same goes to you too if you wear damon braces.
Thanks for ur reply. Is extraction pain? cause i'm very scare of pain.
hey Sherlyn!
oh no worries at all about the extraction. Dr. Jason who is another orthodontist at the clinic is very very gentle. He'll explain everything about the process to you before the extraction. But the anesthetic shot can be a little bit painful. But after you survived the shots (four shots if think), you'll feel nothing at all and the tooth will be out in a minute. I'd suggest you to take paracetamol or any painkiller an hour before the extraction. It helped a lot for me. Good luck and happy new year!
Hi, May I know how much does it cost for the whole treatment?
Hello.
The total cost is RM7k. But that does not include extraction and retainer. If you were still a student, you can get retainer for free. The cost for retainer alone is rm700.
Hello. I am getting my damon braces next week. I have had 4 teeth extracted in total. Will the first few days hurt after braces have been put on? Can I continue with classes and all or do I need MC on that day?
Hello. Just curious why and when do i need to use retainer if i want to use braces? And how much is the total price without the student discount?
